Weekly Activities For Young People At St George's

Junior Church

At St. George's we are fortunate to be blessed with many children and young people. Our aims are to provide Bible based teaching in a safe and loving environment and to provide a place where the children feel they belong and where they can grow in faith.

Children can register for Junior Church from 10.20 a.m. in the link building and then go straight through to the hall where Junior Church leaders meet them. The first part of the morning includes singing; prayers; dramas; puppet sketches; and interactive activities for all children together - this is be led by one of the junior church staff and is lively, fun and relevant. The children then break down into smaller ages groups for a related activity or craft. The age groups are split: 4-5's, 6-7's, 89's 10-11's. Then to conclude the morning we all come back together for a final song and prayer.

Adults of younger children may choose to worship with their children in the hall for the first part of the morning if they prefer. Parents of children in the crèche may again choose where to worship for the first half of the morning and the crèche opens part way through the morning.

After the service, parents can collect their children from the Hall at 11.45 a.m. and coffee is served in the Hall

One of the things many people say about St Georges is that we are a family and all ages feel welcome together. We also recognise that all ages worshipping together is important, and we would not want to loose that special time.

On the first Sunday of the month the children join with the church and all ages worship together for the first part of the morning. At times of celebration all ages worship together for the whole morning ie Easter, Pentecost, Harvest etc

At St. George's we consider it a real privilege to work alongside the various groups of young people within the church. Our aims are to help them discover who they are, and who God is and to walk alongside them as they do that, through the ups and downs of their teenage years - and our prayer is that when they leave the youth groups at St George's and move into the adult world they will have their own vibrant faith and will continue to grow.
